Happy Easter! *And 2 Year Anniversary Giveaway*

Two Easters ago, the guys of Primal Pastures (Tom, Jeff, Paul, and Rob) ordered 50 chicks and started a facebook page with a dream of one day supplying Southern California with the best poultry around.

This first batch of birds sold out before they were even ready to be processed. And by the time they were ready, we had accumulated over 100 additional customers on our wait list. The demand for healthy, pastured poultry was greater than we could have ever imagined. We were so excited for what was to come and are now extremely grateful to be where we are today.

Since starting our little farm in 2012, the following things have happened:

  • Launched a kickstarter campaign with a goal of raising $40,000 that would go towards adding additional types of animals to our inventory for you and your families to enjoy. Because of YOU, we were able to exceed our kickstarter goal and raise a whopping $57,810!
  • In addition to chickens, we began raising egg-laying hens as well as sheep and turkeys (and also began offering beef and pork from Standing Bar G Productions and Cook Pigs Ranch).
  • Started implementing Breakfast on the Farm events for people who share an interest in pastured meats to come together and mingle, meet the farmers, and enjoy a delicious two-course meal (all while watching animals grazing on the pasture).
  • Began offering farm tours for individuals and families to witness with their own eyes the superior quality of life that our animals are provided with (and learn many interesting tid-bits and facts about the numerous benefits of pastured eggs and meats)!
  • Expanded our product list to include Primal Bread as well as raw, local, organic, unfiltered honey, and more deliciously primal yummies!

Although much has changed in the last two years, our goals haven’t. We are still 100% committed to helping you and your families lead more healthy lifestyles based on God and nature’s brilliant design. And this blog is an extension of that. This blog is for you. It’s one more resource that can help you discover ways to grow in health and wellness (and get to know all of us better)!

And it’s a way for us to say thank you for your support over the last two years! But we also want to say thank you by giving away a bunch of free stuff — $500 worth of…

  • T-shirts
  • Tote Bags
  • Aprons
  • Stickers
  • Farm Tours
  • Workshop Tickets
  • Breakfast on the Farm Tickets
  • Gift Cards to our Online Store

The catch? Sign up to receive free weekly From the Pasture email updates and comment on a post. That’s it! Easy right?

Sign up and comment anytime this week to win — we will randomly select the winners on Monday, April 28.

We hope that you will give us the chance to get to know you through this blog. And more importantly, we hope that you will all have a very HAPPY EASTER!

We live in central Wisconsin so, unfortunately, can’t take advantage of your pastured meat and eggs. Do you know of any farmers in our area (Madison is the closest large city) that you could recommend? Thank you!

    • Bethany McDaniel says

Terresia, hope you can get some soon! They do sell out quickly, but our hens have been laying much more eggs lately now that the cold season is over. Do you live close to the farm? If you’re ever able to stop by, we usually always have a few cartons available (just not always enough to list on our site).

We drove hours to your Chicken Processing Workshop and it was worth every minute! I had looked at many pictures, but I still wasn’t sure I could actually do it myself. Being there in such a supportive atmosphere really helped. Now I know that even though I don’t have to process my own food, I can!

    Congrats on the new blog!

    • Bethany McDaniel says

Charmayne, I felt the same way the first time I processed – timid and slightly grossed out – but after a few minutes it just felt normal. And afterwards, I had a greater appreciation for food and where it comes from. Thanks for your support!

  27. says

Just found your site and am excited for you all and wish you great success with your farm. Do you have turkeys yet? I will have to drop by when I am in the area to see you all.

    • Bethany McDaniel says

Hi Belinda! Thanks so much for the well wishes. We do have turkeys but they aren’t quite ready to be processed yet – still a fairly new addition. Hope to see you soon!

  34. says

Great Blog! It’s been so fun to see Primal Pastures grow so much in the last year! My family runs a organic produce farm and farm stand in Vista; we have quite a few of our own chickens, but don’t sell the eggs since we eat them so fast;). It’s really inspiring to see a family farm grow and be supported like yours!

    • Bethany McDaniel says

Hi Megan! How awesome that your family has an organic produce farm! What sorts of things are you growing? At least your chickens lay enough eggs for you guys right now :) Thanks for reading!

  35. Gina K says

This blog is great! I haven’t tried any meats from primal pastures yet but they look intriguing. A bit pricey for someone like me with a student’s budget ๐Ÿ˜› health is so important to me though! Keep up the good work :)
